Arrests Made In Metro East Arson Case

BELLEVILLE, ILLINOIS ( KPLR)-The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department has two people in custody for a series of suspicious fires around the Freeburg, IL area.  Six fires were set since the end of April, three of which happened on the same day.  No one was injured in any of the fires.

Just after midnight Thursday, the two suspects were spotted near Bay Point Drive by a resident who confronted the two and called Freeburg Police. The two subjects were taken to the Sheriff’s Department.

The suspects have been identified as Bryan L. Boide, 23, from Belleville, IL, and Nicholas E. Haegele, 19, from O’Fallon, IL.

The case is being handed over to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office.
