(CNN) - A Colorado couple is enjoying life in their new home.  For environmental and financial reasons, the couple decided to go small, really small.  It's the final stage of a year-long downsizing dream.

To them, less is more.

For just a few thousand dollars, they bought land and built a home that is roughly one-20th the size of an average American house.

Tiny houses like this are popping up around the country, with some as small as 89 square feet.

The idea is that living with less, simplifies your life.
