(KPLR) - A St. Louis soldier serving in Afghanistan dedicated an American flag to his unborn son.  First Lieutenant Phillip Downey saluted the flag as it flew over "camp leatherneck" in Afghanistan last week.

He's a combat engineer, who’s been deployed for a year; just a few weeks after his girlfriend broke the news, that she was pregnant.

The baby is due in September and since Downey won't be there, he's sending the flag as a tribute.
