DOWNTOWN, ST. LOUIS, MO. (KPLR) - A march to protest the city of St. Louis closing three tent cities for the homeless occurred Friday afternoon.  The city is attempting to move the residents from the riverfront camp sites to temporary apartments.

The Reverend Larry Rice and others believe the tents are the most cost effective way to support the homeless while they look for permanent housing.  Rice says all of the homeless in St. Louis should be given a place to live, not just those living in the tent communities.

The city will start moving residents in Hopeville on May first.
