(CNN) - A 28 year old medical problem solved by a seed. Sixty-two year old Blanca Riveron has dealt with a nagging cough and labored breathing since 1984.  Blanca was repeatedly treated for asthma and pneumonia for years.  Then last December, doctors found a mass in her lung, a dark spot thought to be cancer.

A scared Blanca called her daughter melody who lives in Cuba.

Melody calmed her mother's fears by reminding her of when she accidentally inhaled a large seed from a piece of tropical fruit called Nispero, while yelling at her children nearly 30 years ago.
