ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR)-- Cardinals fans have a first place team to cheer on here in St. Louis this season. But that doesn't stop fans from peeking at the scoreboard to check on Albert Pujols.
Pujols certainly has not begun his career with the Angels like the $250 million man. Pujols is batting under .250 and has gone without a home run for the longest stretch to begin a season in his career.
Almost every Cardinal fan you talk to at Busch stadium is aware of those stats. But the big debate is, do they even care?
The rare Cardinal fan sporting their Albert Pujols jersey in the crowd at a Cardinals game would tell you that they still care, and hold no ill will towards Albert.
They are grateful for all he did in St. Louis and want him to continue to do well with the Angels.
The fans wearing #5 jerseys with the Pujols name removed from them or altered to that the "S" in Pujols resembles a dollar sign indicate that there is still some lingering bitterness towards Pujols and his departure from St. Louis, and those fans are enjoying his season opening slump.
But the majority of Cardinals fans that I spoke to Wednesday evening are aware of Albert's slow start and are not reading anything into it because they've seen Albert bust out of dozens of slumps with a bang over the last 11 years.
