FESTUS, MO (KPLR)– Hanna Kilburns dogs are housed at the Festus Animal Control Center she’s hoping to find a new home. A Monday morning fire destroyed her Festus home of 2 years leaving Kilburn and 3 of her dogs homeless. Her 4th dog died in the fire.
“Smoke was barreling out it was engulfed this was just glowing. I’m hoping to find a no kill shelter who will step forward with room or have them adoped or put in foster care,” said fire victim Hanna Kilburn.
The Festus Animal Control Center offered to temporarily house the dogs until they find a new home, however if they take possession of the dogs and run out of space they can be euthanized within 7 days.
“Space disappears quickly we have to call the owners and they would have to find somewhere to take them.” said Matt Clemens of Festus Animal Control.
Festus fire crews are still investigating the fire. Kilburn is currently staying with family, hoping her dogs can find a new home.
“They’re all that’s salvaged from the fire they deserve a second chance,” said Kilburn.
