(KPLR) - Timothy Johnson, U.S. House of Representative from Illinois, is retiring, just weeks after defeating two Madison county challengers in the GOP primary.

Timothy Johnson was first elected in 2000 and serves the 13th congressional district.

The newly drawn district stretches from Champaign Urbana, into Madison County.  Now the candidate that will run in the congressional election will be chosen by the leaders of the county Republican Party.
