ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - Drivers face a weekend full of lane closures on both sides of the Mississippi.  Between the Missouri and Illinois transportation departments, most lanes will not reopen until rush hour Monday.

At 7 p.m. Friday, MoDOT will shut down two eastbound lanes of Interstate 64. That will be between Jefferson and 11th Street for bridge painting.  All, all that should clear up by 5 p.m.  The 11th Street ramp will also close Friday night but only for a few hours.

But Illinois has the more ambitious project. Friday night, IDOT will close I-64 from the 55/70/64 split all the way to State Route 111.  The 9th and 10th Street bridge over the highway in East St. Louis will come down. Crews must have the project complete by 5 a.m. Monday or risk being fined.
