Saint Louis Zoo To Buy Forest Park Hospital and Expand

St. Louis, MO. (KTVI-FOX2)The Saint Louis Zoo Association plans to buy the old Forest Park Hospital and expand the zoo. The news came Monday morning. It is unclear what the space will be used for but officials say it will enhance the visitor's experience.

The Saint Louis Zoo is the second smallest accredited zoo in Missouri.  The money to fund the project will come from private donations.

According to the Regional Chamber and Growth Association, the Zoo provides about $187.5 million in direct and indirect economic benefits to the region annually.

The Association plans to close the deal in late Spring.
