Person Sent To Hospital After Possible Hammer Attack

Police in Granite City, Illinois responded to a home at 17th and Delmar around 6:45 am Friday. The Fire department asked for help because they were removing a person from the second floor of a house.

Police say the person suffered a massive head injury, possibly from a blow from a hammer. The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Department arrived later to assist Granite City Police with the investigation. The area is cordoned off.
