I remember when birth control for women was hardly available. Abortions were mostly illegal. So not getting pregnant came down to two choices, don't have sex or make sure the guy used a condom. Girls in my high school would get pregnant, of course. In that case, they simply disappeared. They'd eventually return to school. The baby was either given away or raised by a relative or aborted.
