A St. Charles first grader is being hailed a hero after calling 9-1-1 when her dad had trouble breathing.

Tom Raga had been working on a rehab project in their St. Charles home when his lungs filled with sawdust.

Seven-year-old Abbie Raga knew her dad needed help. She made a 911 call on December 27th.

St. Charles dispatch and alarm supervisor Vickie Schramm knew that Tom was in pain, but she was impressed with the kindergartner’s composure.

The St. Charles Ambulance District will honor Abbie Wednesday night.

They say her 911 call is an educational reminder for parents.
