KPLR 11 has an immediate opening for a new business developmental Account Executive. Candidate will be responsible for developing new business for KPLR and
KPLR11.com. In addition, candidate will provide outstanding customer service and form new relationships with clients. Candidate must possess self-motivation skills along with a proven track record of success. Must be able to work under pressure, be extremely organized and maintain a team spirit. Cold calling and prospecting is required, as this is commission based compensation.

Digital Sales Coordinator

This position is an integral part of digital sales. The DC (Digital Coordinator) is a progressive, creative thinker who can conceptualize, execute, and close revenue producing ideas that connect our advertiser’s goals to our multimedia digital properties, including, but not limited to, the station websites, apps, social media, off-site partners, and agency services.

This position works with the sales management team including Local
Sales Managers and National Sales Manager in business development for the overall operation; specifically championing digital sales. This position reports directly to the Digital Sales Manager.

Experience:

• Drive digital revenue growth for the station and company; take revenue share out of the market, and create new digital business – be a part of every local advertiser’s budget.
• Work at a partnership/consultative level as an expert in digital advertising with account executives, agencies, and advertisers.
• Work in tandem with the Digital Sales Managers to form revenue strategy, expense management, training, and overall cross-media revenue production.
• Knowledge of all digital sales products, inventory management and pricing strategies.
• Assist in forecasting revenue, developing and sustaining a business plan to exceed the digital sales budget
• Coach and deliver sales presentations in tandem with sales people.
• Create strong business relationships and develop a sense of team with the Account Executives and assist with targeting, building, negotiating and closing deals.
• Brainstorm with sales people for creative marketing promotions that leverage the digital and broadcast assets.
• Develop and deliver best practices for digital knowledge among the sales department and clients..
• Work with 3rd party vendors to support digital initiatives including ad operations, creative, agency services, analytics partners, audience extension partners, contesting and email programs, lead generation, search, and others.
• Produce reporting, and other support functions of Interactive.

Requirements:

Accountant

This Accountant role is a key member of our Finance team for KTVI KPLR – the top performing News station in the St. Louis market.  You will be a member of the larger Tribune Media organization which provides nationwide opportunities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Process/administer payroll
  • Process union dues, medical and H&R tracking and payments
  • Prepare month end journal entries
  • Process account reconciliations
  • Process headcount reports and stat accounts
  • Prepare payroll forecasts and budgets
  • Revenue reporting and analysis
  • Calculate national and local sales commissions
  • Assist with conversion to time tracking system
  • Perform overtime analysis and reporting
  • Prepare monthly finance reports
  • Perform various AP and AR functions

Experience: Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management and 5+ years experience in payroll, general accounting, budgeting and forecasting.

Requirements: Experience with union contracts, time tracking software and a good understanding of payroll and various types of deductions. Experience in the Microsoft Office Suite with intermediate to advanced Excel skills. Experience in Workday Financials, HCM and Payroll a plus.

Producer

KTVI-KPLR in St. Louis, Mo. has an immediate opening for a Multimedia Producer. We are looking for a creative, visionary producer who knows how to craft a great rundown but isn’t married to it. The winning candidate is enthusiastic and willing to make last minute changes. Equally important is how this producer performs in the booth. We are looking for someone who makes decisions quickly and calmly.

We are also looking for someone who can maximize all of our live pictures, whether they be from our helicopter, fixed cameras, live remotes or news feeds from around the country & world.

In addition to the standard duties of producers in the industry (write, gather information, select stories, decide order and treatment of stories ), the producers of the KTVI-KPLR News Team are responsible for developing an overall style and identity for their assigned newscast with a keen focus on building the stations brand, “ Live, Local, and Late Breaking “

Reporter/Anchor

Position requires an aggressive multimedia journalist to work in a newsroom that puts a high value on breaking news, daily investigative reporting, neighborhood stories and severe weather coverage. The candidate must be able to pull off a visual live shot and know how to turn an enterprise story into a lead.
The winning candidate must be equally good on the street AND on the anchor desk. Strong writing, storytelling and news judgment are a must. The reporter should be available to work any shift including weekends and holidays. This person may also be asked to make public appearances at station events. Candidate must be capable of using news computer system, along with shooting and editing their own stories.

Education / Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Journalism / Broadcast Communications preferred 3 Years working as a Multimedia Reporter or Backpack Journalist

Minimum Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of contemporary TV Production techniques and computer software
  • Shooting/Editing: Must have a solid grasp of how to shoot and edit digital video, tell stories with words, video, sound and graphics. We shoot on Sony EX3 cameras and edit on Final Cut Pro. • Enterprise Reporting: A superior ability to develop enterprise story ideas, develop sources & contacts, and research stories.
  • Writing: Consistently writing factual/accurate, clear, compelling, easy-to-understand, news stories and teases, making maximum use of video, graphics, live shots, and all the tools available to achieve superb story telling on multimedia platforms.
  • Aggressive Response to Breaking News & Weather: On air, online, on social media such as Twitter and Facebook and on other platforms.
  • Superior ability to report live out in the field and under pressure, meeting deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
