"The Fan Show" on KPLR-TV is what brought Kurt LaBelle back to his hometown of St. Louis. Kurt was hired in March 2006 as the producer of the new Sunday night sports show. His responsibilities now include reporting for News 11 at 7pm
Before coming back to St. Louis in 2006, Kurt spent five years in Quincy, Illinois, as the weekend sports and weather anchor for KHQA. Kurt produced, wrote, edited and anchored his sportscasts for the late night 10:00 weekend news shows. For three of his five years, Kurt also produced and anchored the weather on the weekend newscasts. During the week, Kurt was a one-man-band reporter/photographer and packaged franchise sports stories, including "Plays of the Week" and "Scholar Athlete of the Week."
Kurt is a Boston College graduate with a degree in Broadcast Communications. At BC, Kurt was the assistant director of the only sketch comedy club on campus. Kurt co-wrote, filmed and directed three different short comedic films for the group. Kurt also was a member of intramural hockey and other sports as well. Prior to that, Kurt graduated from St. Louis University High School with honors. At SLUH, Kurt played four years of varsity hockey and received Mid-States Hockey Association Third Team All-State honors his senior year and honorable mention his junior year.
Kurt's interests include anything involving the sport of hockey: ice hockey, roller hockey, bubble hockey etc. Other interests are softball, skating, poker, movies, theater, baseball, racquetball, running, barbecuing, and spending time with his family and friends in St. Louis.
