COLUMBIA, MO (KPLR) – Wednesday night snow spread from western Missouri towards the St. Louis area.  It began falling in Moberly around 8pm.  Roads were quickly covered, and MoDOT trucks were out plowing the highways and spreading salt.  Wind gust whipped up the snow causing visibility to drop dramatically in some spots.

About 35 miles south in Columbia people headed to hardware stores to purchase snow shovels, salt and ice melt.

Folks don’t remember last winter packing a lot of snow but a recent icing situation had some people on edge and they wanted to be prepared for anything Mother Nature had to throw at them this time.

Through the night snow is expected to continue spreading eastward into St. Louis.
