Teen who shot St. Louis officer now a suspect in at least 6 more crimes

george-p-bush-iiiST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - The teen who shot a police sergeant Sunday is now a suspect in at least six more crimes in St. Louis County. The crime wave in which George P. Bush III, 19, is a suspect seems to keep expanding.

St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar says his department is looking at Bush as a potential suspect in a series of carjackings along the Heege road corridor in Affton, more crimes in South County, plus the shooting and robbery of a 66-year-old woman in a Denny's parking lot in Fenton.

"Now there is some forensics going on at the crime lab as far as the projectile, shell casings, things like that. I feel like this is a situation where a very dangerous person was involved in that tragic shooting of the city sergeant the other night. I feel like this individual is responsible for quite a bit of crime; and very serious crime, that`s happened in St. Louis County over the course of the last month." said Chief Jon Belmar.

Police say Bush pulled up along-side a St. Louis police vehicle in traffic on Hampton in south St. Louis Sunday night and shot a St. Louis police sergeant twice in the face. The sergeant survived. After an intense manhunt, police shot and killed Bush, after they say he opened fire on officers yet again. Chief Belmar says location, motive, and ballistics are more than enough reason for suspicion.
