ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – A community in south city is preparing a vigil and moment of silence on behalf of a St. Louis police officer who was wounded in a shooting over the weekend.

The group is asking people to meet just before 7:30 p.m. on the sidewalks from St. Gabriel the Archangel (where the wounded officer attends church) along Nottingham Avenue to Hampton, and then north to Pernod where the shooting occurred.

A blue ribbon will be extended the length of the route.

At 7:30 p.m., everyone gathered at the intersection of Pernod and Hampton will be asked to stand still for a moment of silence. Following the moment of silence, everyone will be invited to join in singing “Let There Be Peace on Earth.”

Traffic will not be blocked for the vigil.
