Lincoln County student brings used syringe to school, mother arrested on drug charges

julia-freemanTROY, MO (KPLR)- A Lincoln County, MO, student showed up to school with a used syringe last Friday, and now his mother is in police custody. According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, on October 28, 2016, a Troy Middle School student brought the used syringe to school and showed it to a teacher.

When asked about it by a School Resource Officer, the student said the syringe belonged to her mother.

The Troy Police Department was contacted and 34-year-old Julie Freeman, of Troy, was later taken into custody. The Sheriff’s Office received a search warrant for Freeman’s home and recovered a baggie of crystallized methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and used syringes.

Freeman admitted that the drugs and drug paraphernalia all belonged to her.  She has been charged with felony Possession of Controlled Substance and Endangering the Welfare of Child Involving Drugs and is being held in the Lincoln County Jail under a $20,000 or 10% Surety bond.

The student is now living with family members.
