DEA makes major meth bust in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - The DEA announces a major meth takedown in the St. Louis region. Missouri was once known as the meth capital of the U.S. Now the drug is coming from major distributors south of the border.

The investigation took place over an 18-month period and has resulted in more than three dozen arrests and the seizure of huge amounts of meth and heroin, high powered weapons & a million dollars in drug money.

The DEA displayed the drugs, weapons & money they seized in four raids this morning in St Louis City, St. Louis County and Caseyville,IL. They seized 21 lbs OF crystal meth, several weapons and thousands of dollars.

Dealers are no longer relying on small clandestine meth makers in rural Missouri. The drugs are now coming from what the DEA describes as "Super Labs" in Mexico. How these loads of meth get into the United States is anyone's guess.
