ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KPLR) – The Hazelwood police officer, who was injured in a car crash last month, is now at the same rehab hospital in Colorado as the Ballwin officer who was paralyzed by a suspect's bullet in July.
First responders lined up their vehicles on the overpasses along Highway 40 as an ambulance carrying Officer Craig Tudor passed below. His vehicle was escorted by a caravan of police cars on his journey to Spirit of St. Louis Airport.
Officer Tudor suffered spinal injuries when he was involved in a rollover crash for responding to a call on August 25.
In a climate of anti-police sentiment the Hazelwood police chief says the message of support from around the nation prove otherwise.
"It makes you realize people care about us and then we have hope, we have hope for Craig Tudor," said Chief Gregg Hall.
Ballwin officer Michael Flamion, who was shot by a motorist during a traffic stop, has been at the rehab facility since August 8.
A Go Fund Me account set up for Officer Tudor has so far raised more than $20,000.
