Woman raped in Central West End home

ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - More violent crime over the weekend in the Central West End. The St. Louis neighborhood is full of bars, restaurants and shops. It's a part of the city were a lot of young professionals live. But, it's been a summer of violent crime in the trendy neighborhood.

The latest victim is a 26-year-old woman. St. Louis Police say just before 2am on Saturday, in a home on North Boyle Avenue, a young woman woke up to find a man on top of her.

The victim says the man put a pillow over her face said he had a gun and told her not to scream. He then raped her and fled. Investigators believe he climbed through a first floor window.

The suspect is described as a 22-25 year old black male with short hair and a muscular build. Sex crimes detectives continue to investigate.
