ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - Starting Monday, drivers on Grand who use Interstate 44 to head into St. Louis city will need to use Chouteau and Jefferson Avenue.
MoDOT is closing the ramp from Grand to eastbound I-44 for the next two weeks. Crews will be putting down new asphalt to connect the ramp to the new Grand Bridge. Once it's closed, drivers will not be able to access eastbound I-44 from Grand from either direction. They are encouraged to use Chouteau and Jefferson, or Gravois and Jefferson, to detour around the ramp closure.
According to the company's press release, motorists will still be able to turn right from southbound Grand to westbound I-44. They'll also able to turn left from the ramp from eastbound I-44 at Detonty to northbound Grand.
Due to the tight left turn, trucks and buses should continue to avoid the area.
Drivers on northbound Grand should continue to use Chouteau and Vandeventer, or Jefferson, to get onto westbound I-44, since left turns from northbound Grand are still restricted.
