MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO (KPLR) – Labor Day is the traditional end of summer and it also means it's time to close the public pools.
While Monday was a perfect day for swimming, it was the day to take a dive into area public pools.
It's been a very hot summer and that's kept these pools very busy with parents and their children looking for a way to cool off.
Most of the pools opened around the region on Memorial Day weekend at the end of May.
At the Aquaport in Maryland Heights they've been averaging 4 to 500 swimmers a day. On a really good day as many as 800 were here splashing in the pools and having fun on the waterslides.
Even though it’s still very warm outside, it’s time for the public pools to close, which many children and some adults don’t like.
Today around 400 swimmers were at the Aquaport Monday.
And in case you’re wondering its 265 days until the pools open up again.
