Carjacking suspect arrested after high-speed chase; pistol, costume mask found

ST. ANN, MO (KPLR)- A man accused of several carjacking's lead police on a high-speed chase and before being then taken into custody. FOX 2's News crews captured exclusive video as the St. Ann Police Department made the arrest.
Police searched the stolen vehicle the suspect was driving found a pistol and a costume mask.

Investigators say the incident all unfolded Thursday morning as a routine traffic stop. Detectives say the suspect blew by officers at high rate of speed driving at least 80 miles per hour down Interstate 70. Police pursued the vehicle.

During the pursuit, the suspect lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a utility pole.
The suspect he bailed on foot in a neighborhood. Police asked various residents to lock their doors and windows as the searched the area.

The suspect was later found him inside of a garage in the back of a home.

"During the course of the investigation, we found that this car was stolen , that the plates came back to another vehicle . Inside the car was a stolen pistol and the car is wanted in connection for several carjackings . This tips the iceberg, when you take about some crimes," said Chief Aaron Jimenez.

The chief says his department will process the vehicle to determine what evidence they have against the suspect and work other agencies where recent carjackings occurred.
