ST. PETERS, MO (KPLR) - St. Peters police are investigating after reports of at least five vehicle break-ins overnight in the Timberidge Drive neighborhood.
According to police, the break-ins happened in the 3800 blocks of Silver Ridge and Hermitage and in the first block of Pear Tree Court between 1:00 and 3:00 a.m. Wednesday. Miscellaneous items, including money and laptop computers were taken from locked and unlocked vehicles.
Cheryl Lalonde says thieves managed to open her glove box and armrest before making out with just some spare change.
“Not good” she said. “Not good and in a nice neighborhood like this where we all look out for each other. People rooting through our things like that? Not good” she said.
Three people on Lalonde’s street say their vehicles were also broken into.
Mark Carroll lives next door to Lalonde and while his vehicle was spared, he wants to know who’s responsible for the break-ins.
“Could very well be… Kids will be kids and sometimes they do stupid things” Carroll said. “I’d like to think it wasn’t, but who knows? You never know” he said.
That uncertainty reinforcing the warning to always keep your doors locked.
“That’s what it is I guess” said Lalonde. “You just have to be very careful and make sure that you lock your doors and lock your cars” she said.
St. Peters police are asking anyone with surveillance cameras that may have captured images of the thefts, to contact their Crime Solvers hotline at 636-278-1000.
Police say they will be increasing patrols in the area.
