ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – A St. Louis city police are investigating an officer involved shooting in north St. Louis. Chief Sam Dotson in a press conference said the shooting started Tuesday night just before 9 pm with an armed carjacking on Labadie Avenue. Several subjects with guns walked up to man standing next to his car, stealing a Ford Fusion.
That vehicle was then used in two armed robberies in south St. Louis in the 4200 block of South Broadway. A fast food restaurant and a laundry mat were both robbed within minutes of each other.
Police spotted the vehicle around 11 pm on I-70 and followed the car attempting to stop the vehicle. Suspects in the car fired several shots at the officers in pursuit who returned fire.
The pursuit went through several neighborhoods in north St. Louis till the suspects drove down Selber Court which is a dead-end street.
Between 4 to 5 suspects bailed from the vehicle with handguns. Officers chased one suspect who turned and fired at 3 officers. The officers fired back striking the suspect in the legs.
He was later transported the hospital in stable condition.
Dotson said 3 handguns were recovered at the scene, 2 with the suspect wounded by police and one in the stolen vehicle.
3 or 4 suspect are still at-large, with one wearing a red hoodie.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
The case has been turned over the police departments Force Investigation Unit.
