SOUTH ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – A dog was rescued from a house on Bowen Street in South St. Louis Wednesday night.  The dog was in kennel when the roof on the house partially collapsed.

Fire crews used a ladder to retrieve the dog from a second floor window of the house.

Firefighters used a 10-foot pipe pole to rescue the dog.  The dog wasn’t injured in the collapse.

A St. Louis Fire Department spokesperson say the roof collapse may have been caused by the weight of shingles that had been placed on one spot on the roof.

No one else was home at the time of the collapse.
