Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner

BELLEVILLE, IL (KPLR) – Term limits for Illinois lawmakers is a necessity, according to Governor Bruce Rauner.

The Illinois governor visited Tiedemann farm in Belleville Wednesday with the message that good government reforms include term limits.

Rauner campaigned on term limits during the 2014 race, but a Cook County judge recently tossed a petition-driven ballot measure. The matter is now being considered by the Illinois Supreme Court.

The governor is asking the Illinois general assembly to consider a state amendment during its fall veto session to limit the number of years legislators can serve.
