SPRINGFIELD, MO (KPLR) - Take a journey with us to a place where Cardinals roost and where everything you need for the great outdoors can be found indoors. It’s all just three hours southwest of St. Louis on Interstate 44 in Springfield, Missouri.

“This is a mini Busch Stadium experience here at Hammons Field. Everyone wears their Cardinals red. You get to see the future of Cardinals baseball,” said Springfield Cardinals General Manager Matt Gifford.

A bright future paved by a storied past for the Cardinals Double-A affiliate. 76 Springfield Cardinals have made it to the big leagues with St. Louis. Despite all that high end talent, a night at Hammons Field won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

“You can start your tickets at $7. We have $1 dog nights. We have $1 bratwurst nights. Fireworks on Friday nights. There’s always a fun giveaway,” added Gifford.

The kiddos will fall in love with the Springfield Cardinals two mascots Louie and Stretch!

“Everyone here seems like family. The Cardinal organization here treats you like family. “They take time. I’ve seen players turn around and leave and come back because somebody is asking them for an autograph,” said a Cardinal fan we interviewed.

Hopefully Mother Nature cooperates, but should a rain delay disrupt your plans, there’s more adventure just three miles from Hammons Field at the original Bass Pro Shops. More than 4 million customers pass through the Show-Me State’s top tourist attraction each year and that number is expected to grow when the Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium opens later this year.

“We’ll have more than 800 species of animals and about 35,000 in total population.” said Bass Pro Shops Campus Director Mickey Black.

We were given an exclusive sneak peak of the site. Campus director Mickey Black can’t wait to share it with the public.

“Specifically here in this ray touch tank, that you’ll get to experience you have cow nosed rays, Atlantic rays, reticulated blue spotted rays, leopard rays. We also have a few sharks in there as well," added Black.
