ST. PETERS, MO (KPLR) – The weather will be nice but the mood somber at Saturday’s Pride St. Charles Festival, as members of the LGBT community and supporters will congregate and honor the victims of the Orlando nightclub shooting.

Approximately 6,000 people are expected to attend the second annual festival, nearly twice as many people as last year. Organizers have moved the festivities to 370 Lakeside Park to accommodate the larger crowd.

Security is always important at events like this, but things will be even tighter this year. Organizers met with St. Peters police to discuss protocol.

“They’ve increased security it will be more than double. Don’t know the number, but we will probably see police in uniform and plain clothes officers that day,” said Beth Finder, co-chair of the Pride St. Charles Festival.
