SOUTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KPLR) -Memorial Day events are happening all weekend with many of those capturing what holiday is all about, remembering the men and woman who have paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

On Saturday, a group of local veterans and their family members gathered at Jefferson Barracks for a Memorial Day remembrance. This ceremony is put on by local alumni of the different service academies. It is the 16th year they have set up this small, but growing ceremony to honor veterans who have passed away since last Memorial Day.

The ceremony honors veterans from each branch of the military, Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard.  The theme of the ceremony is that no matter what branch of service or what war,  these men and women served our country and put their lives on the line and they deserve our gratitude.
