Officer involved in accident faces long recovery

(KPLR) - A Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputy is still in the hospital after he was seriously injured in car accident while responding to call.

The officer has a long road to recovery.

Deputy Beattie was responding to a call with his sirens on Saturday night when his patrol car was struck on Route M.

There were two people in the other vehicle, they were also injured.

But Deputy Beattie's injuries were so severe he had to be airlifted to the hospital and rushed to intensive care.

Officials say he suffered a broken neck and a bad concussion and remains in intensive care.

He is engaged and his was set to be married this weekend.

His sister and fiancee talked to us about his long road to recovery.
