BRIDGETON, MO (KTVI)- Police are investigating after a car crashed into a building in Bridgeton overnight. One person has died.

The accident happened shortly before 3 a.m. on St. Charles Rock Road and Mark Twain Lane, not far from Fee Fee Road and Interstate 70. Bridgeton officers and Pattonville Firefighters responded to the scene. Those firefighters appear to have rescued someone trapped inside of the severely mangled sedan. That person was taken away in an ambulance.

While officials are not confirming, evidence of the crash appears to show that car had been traveling west on St. Charles Rock Road when it lost control, smashed into a business' sign and continued barreling into that building.
