Kirkwood puts all schools on lockdown as precaution

Kirkwood High School

KIRKWOOD, MO (KPLR) – All schools in the Kirkwood School District were placed on lockdown Wednesday morning. Kirkwood High School was on a hard lockdown for about an hour and a half. All extra security measures have been lifted. The school district has not given a reason for the lockdowns.

Police put the schools on lockdown Wednesday morning as a precaution. They say there appears to be no immediate threat.

School officials were asking parents to not pick up students at Kirkwood High School. The was school on lockdown and no one could go in or out of the building.

The lockdown was lifted for all schools in the district at around 11:30am. School officials extended the lockdown at Kirkwood High School for about a half hour to wrap things up.

The Kirkwood School District says all students are safe and the school day has resumed. They will be releasing more information soon about the reason for the lockdowns.
