UNIVERSITY CITY, MO (KPLR) – Trouble in ‘The Delmar Loop’ over the weekend.

St. Louis Police reported repeated disturbances, including one man being punched in the face while simply walking down the street.

Police made at least seven arrests.

4 were initially for crimes committed elsewhere.

Tajuawon Butler, 17, is charged with assault and resisting arrest.  He’s accused of running from police after randomly punching a passerby in the 6100 block of Delmar near the Pageant Theater and Moonrise Hotel about 6:30 Saturday night.

Most of the disturbances were at or near ‘The Loop’ Metrolink station.

Sonnie Williams, 28, is accused of shoving and kicking two police officers during questioning after being picked up near the station on a warrant for failure to appear in another case.

Jaquan Rush, 20, is charged with robbery for an alleged purse snatching in Central West End last week.

He was spotted among a group of 50-100 juveniles causing disturbances near ‘The Loop’ Metrolink station Friday night, police said.

Loop business owner, Joe Edwards, said crime in ‘The Loop’ was at a 40 year low.  St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson, told FOX 2, he was pushing up the return of added weekend patrols (about 18 officers) in ‘The Loop’.

They were successful last year and supposed to return Easter weekend but will now return sooner, he said.
