EUREKA, MO (KTVI)- As the cleanup from historic flooding continues, time is running out for curbside pickup of any debris. There are just a few days left until the deadline.
There are only four more days to get as much flood debris as possible to the curb so that crews with Operation Recovery can pick it up and haul it away. The program ends Monday and both FEMA and the EPA are urging residents affected to be proactive to make sure all of it gets to the dump site.
Federal and state disaster teams began Operation Recovery in early January.
Since then, crews have cleared nearly 4,000 tons of debris and sandbags and more than 25,000 household goods and appliances.
This is the last week for residents of St. Louis, St. Charles, Jefferson and Franklin Counties to participate.
After next Monday, all remaining debris will be handled by local trash haulers.
