MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO (KPLR) - Big plans have been announced for what's being termed a New Westport Plaza in Maryland Heights. World Wide Technology, Inc. brings in nearly $7 billion in revenue and is the second largest privately held company in our area. It helps provide innovative technology and supply chain solutions to large public and private organizations. The company`s current headquarters is also in Maryland Heights off Fee Fee Road. That site would be transformed into a technology park with this new headquarters.

Last month, the Maryland Heights City Council approved $25.7 million in public tax dollars to help get the new World Wide Technology, Inc. headquarters built in Westport. Building the headquarters keeps Worldwide`s one thousand jobs in Maryland Heights and gives the company room to expand. In addition to the headquarters, there are also plans in the project for more dining options at Westport along with renovated parking facilities.

One Maryland Heights official says the project will make Westport 'a new downtown' for this city.
