ST. LOUIS (KPLR) - There's more help today for the veteran shot after leaving a Cardinals game in September.

Chris Sanna was paralyzed by the shooting and is now in a wheelchair. As he continues rehab at the VA Medical Center, the Gary Sinise Foundation and an army of volunteers are revamping Sanna’s home to make it wheelchair accessible.

Crews are putting in wheelchair friendly bathroom, garage ramp, new cabinets, dry wall, and insulation. Sanna and his mother, Candis, are overwhelmed by the generosity of strangers through all of this.

“It’s like when you give you child the most perfect present Christmas morning, what they wanted more than anything more than anything in the world, and you are able to give it to them, especially with the help of someone else that`s the best feeling in the world,” Candis said.

Volunteers hope to have Sanna’s house renovations complete by mid-January.

“I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for caring about me and my situation it means a lot to me I appreciate it,” Chris said.

Sanna said he is looking forward to seeing his dog run around in the yard again and watching a movie in the peace of his own home.
