ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- A couple of bands of thunderstorms are spreading across the region this morning. Thus far, the storms have been producing heavy rain, some 40-50 miles per hour winds and a few reports of small hail.

The threat for severe weather within these storms is gradually increasing as stronger winds at cloud level overspread the region. There will be a risk of damaging winds, some hail and possibly a tornado or two with these storms later this morning…primarily east and south of STL.

The first round of storms should push east of the region by 11 AM allowing for breaks in the overcast the could fuel another round of more isolated severe storms by early this afternoon. These afternoon storms are iffy. However, if they do develop, the parameters are very favorable for damaging wind and isolated tornadoes. But that is a big if right now.

Best idea is to pay close attention to weather through today.
