ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR)-CHAMP Assistance Dogs helps increase the independence of children and adults with disabilities by partnering them, free of charge , with specially selected and trained service dogs. CHAMP also trains and certifies therapy dog teams to visit at hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes and other locations throughout the metro St. Louis area.

These hero dogs are now also helping kids recover from emotional scars.   They are working with The Child Center, Inc., a child advocacy center serving child victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse and children who witness violence. The dogs provide comfort and love while the children are interviewed by specialists so their stories can be reported to authorities and entered into a court of law.
