ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR)- Work is just about complete on the Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge over the Mississippi River in East St Louis. IDOT has announced that they hope to reopen the bridge the week of December 21, 2015.

IDOT contractors have been replacing the steel grid deck in the middle of the bridge, making structural repairs, and repainting the bridge.

There may be periodic temporary closures of the bridge over the next several months to complete minor projects and remove scaffolding.  Those closures would occur on weekends and/or weekday off-peak traffic hours.
