EAST ST. LOUIS, IL (KPLR) - As the East St. Louis teachers strike enters its third week, concerns about an East St. Louis High School student may surpass concerns about the labor dispute.

Fox 2 News confirmed Reyondus Estes, a junior and quarterback of the football team, remains hospitalized after a serious car accident.

Police have yet confirm exact details but sources provided Fox 2 with a basic account: Estes was driving his mother's van around 8 p.m. Tuesday in East St. Louis when he struck a parked car. Estes was said to be in and out consciousness at Cardinal-Glennon Hospital in St. Louis.

A district spokeswoman confirmed she’d been to visit Estes at the hospital and his condition had improved: he was moved out of the intensive care unit and into a standard hospital room.
