ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - A reward is being offered tonight to find the killer of a man whose body was found in an abandoned building under sheets of drywall. Robert Polk had been missing since October 3rd.

St. Louis City Police are searching for leads in the case of the 22-year old Army reservist. They are hopeful the reward offered today by CrimeStoppers will generate valuable tips.

Environmental workers found the young man's body Thursday near a vacant property they were scheduled to clean up.

Robert Polk's relatives are not talking to reporters Friday as they take time to mourn the loss of a promising young man. His aunt told us he had dreamed of being a firefighter and an emergency medical technician.

Why Polk was shot to death and his body dumped in an abandoned area of the Baden neighborhood are the questions his family wants answered. The regional CrimeStoppers organization has now posted Polk's story on its website and is requesting help from the public. Anyone who has information that leads to an arrest will be eligible for up to a $5,000 reward. You can provide tips anonymously.

Workers who discovered the body said it appeared to have been hidden under sheets of dry wall for some time. The property was in the 8000 block of Frederick, in an area where the Metropolitan Sewer District had purchased flood damaged property. Only one nearby home was occupied.

Polk left his mother`s home on October 3rd saying he was going to check out a used car advertised on Craigslist. He never returned.
