Afternoons on 11: Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and fighting blood cancer

ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR)-September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month. It is the mission of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to work to find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients.

Blood cancers include leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma.

The executive director of the Gateway Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Debbie Kersting, talks with Christine Buck about the advances in research when it comes to fighting blood cancers. Also, two survivors share their stories.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night Walk raises funds for the organization. The 2015 Walk will be held in Forest Park on Saturday, September 26 at 5:30pm.
