ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – Investigators with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department are working to determine the circumstances surrounding a dead body discovered near a community garden next to a liquor store in the Patch neighborhood Monday morning.

According to Leah Freeman, a police spokeswoman, a young man walking to a bus stop on his way to work spotted the body of a woman in a grassy area near the intersection of Alabama Avenue and Davis Street around 7:30 a.m.

The deceased was identified as 47-year-old Kelli Pound. She was partially clothed and investigators do not know how long she was in the grass, Freeman said.

There are businesses right next to where the body was found.  One of those businesses has surveillance cameras outside. Police spent time in the business, but so far, there is no word of any suspects.

Homicide detectives are handling the case.
