Cardinals win 5-3 to sweep the Diamondbacks

PHOENIX (KPLR) – The Cardinals  completed a 4-game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks Thursday night, winning 5-3.  It’s the Cardinals’ 5th straight win.  They finish the season matchup against Arizona at 7-0.

Brandon Moss hit his first home run as a Cardinal,  a 2-run shot in the 5th inning to give the Cardinals the lead.

Carlos Martinez (13-6) earned the win, with 3 runs on 4 hits in 6 innings of work, with 6 strikeouts.

It got interesting in the 8th, when reliever Steve Cishek loaded the bases on 3 walks with nobody out, but Seth Maness came in, and got 2 strike outs and a ground out to end the threat.

Trevor Rosenthal got his 41st save.
