CLAYTON, MO (KPLR) – We're learning more about the alleged sexual predator of children and women who is now behind bars and how it so easy for him to get away in the first place.

If you could take the blood pressure of a neighborhood in South St. Louis County, it would be off the charts, since residents heard about the outrageous attack on an 11-year-old girl in her bedroom on their street.

Police say Larry Alverson was the man who brushed up against the girl inside the Lemay Shop n Save on Friday, later following her and her mother home and then mysteriously appearing in her bedroom at 2 am Saturday molesting her at knife point in front of her brothers threatening to kill them if they cried out for help.

Police are still not sure how the suspect got in, but they say it`s possible the door was unlocked.

At the shopping center where this all began people are glad to hear police think they have brought the case to an end.

Meanwhile St. Louis city police are trying to determine if Alverson is the same suspect who allegedly groped at least one teenage girl and possibly two Monday at a target store on Hampton.

But in Lemay where there is relief there is also anger because Alverson had not previously been charged with sex crimes even though he was convicted of breaking into homes and then crawling into bed with sleeping women.

His most recent conviction was for trespassing for which he served only four months of his two and a half-year sentence.
