Man charged in accidental shooting of 3-year-old boy

ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – Police charged a 24-year-old in connection with the accidental shooting of a three-year-old boy in north St. Louis.

John A. Pitts was been charged with first-degree child endangerment.

On Tuesday, July 21, officers responded to a call for help at a home in the 1200 block of Walton.

Police arrived to discover the young victim unconscious and bleeding from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The child was transported to the hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition. Police seized five guns from the residence.

This is an ongoing investigation.
