Trees tipping over in waterlogged St. Louis soil

KIRKWOOD, MO (KTVI) – All this wet weather isn’t just causing concern over flooding. Trees in yards are staring to fall as well.

No one was hurt when a 90 foot tall tree came crashing down. The roots on the 120-year-old red oak in a Kirkwood neighborhood gave out after the yard received too much water.

Gill’s Tree Service out of Hillsboro has been cutting trees down for 20 years. This is the second tree they have seen that has fallen into a house this week. They are expecting more to follow.
